Tehran, March 16, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—There are usually many travels via different modes of transport during Nowruz holidays in Iran which is considered as the peak of travels each year.
According to the deputy transport minister, Kamal Hadianfar, 6,500,000 passengers were transported by public transport including road, rail, air, and maritime modes only within 12 days from March 14 to 26, 2024.
The figure is anticipated to reach 17 million passengers by the end of holidays of which 1,750,000 are predicted to be by train.
During a site visit to the terminals, Hadianfar informed of public satisfaction from public transport which is due to the cooperation of transport companies with the government organizations.
Further, he informed of importing 5000 new buses to the public road fleets.
During the 12 days, there were 10,930 take-offs and landings in 56 airports of the country.
Additionally, 3,200,000 travels are recorded via maritime transport in 12 days from March 14 to 26.
Traffic of 170,000 marine vessels was recorded in the southern and northern coasts of Iran during the first 12 days.
During this period, 412000 cars were transported between the mainland and the islands and vice versa.
